Bob MacDonald joined Platt, Sparks & Associates in February 1988. He was previously Vice President of Petroleum Consulting with Intera Technologies, Inc. in Austin. MacDonald graduated in 1963 from The University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Metallurgical). After five years as a reservoir engineer in the gas storage activity of Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, he entered the graduate studies program at The University of Texas at Austin. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1970 and a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1972.For three years MacDonald worked as a petroleum engineering consultant for Intercomp, Inc. in Houston, and in 1975 became Vice President and General Manager of their European Operation in The Hague. During this time, he performed reservoir engineering studies on a large variety of fields around the world and specialized in the application of reservoir simulation techniques to reservoir analysis.From 1978 until his association with Intera Technologies in 1981, MacDonald served on the Petroleum Engineering faculty of The University of Texas at Austin. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Petroleum Engineering Department until 1999.MacDonald has extensive experience in reservoir engineering, economics and risk analysis, natural gas engineering, and the phase behavior of reservoir fluid systems. He has testified as an expert witness before various regulatory bodies as well as trial courts and has served as a court's expert.MacDonald is registered as a Professional Engineer in Texas and Michigan. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Associates of Petroleum Geologists, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
